If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse.

Weekend Inspiration........

Nine-year-old Daniel Cabrera was pictured while sitting on his legs, a look of concentration on his face as he writes on an open book. He was using a wooden bench as a makeshift table along the sidewalk beside a Mcdonald's branch in the North Reclamation area in Cebu City(Philippines)

In a telephone interview, Mcdonald's Cebu North Reclamation restaurant manager Iris Prak said that Daniel, his mother, and his 7-year-old brother Gabriel usually stay outside Mcdonald's to beg from passers-by.The brothers do their homework there after school because they do not have electricity at home. Prak said that sometimes, the boys' mother works at a nearby food stall, where the family of 3 usually sleeps at night.
Joyce Torrefranca took Daniel's picture on Tuesday night, June 23, and  posted it  on her Facebook account. She is a student at Cebu Doctors' University. She said Daniel inspired her to study harder as she prepares for an exam."As a student, it gave me an inspiration to work harder. I'm fortunate my parents were able to send me to school. I seldom go to coffee shops to study, but this kid just hit me. You really don't need much, you just have to be determined and focused on the things that you want to achieve," Torrefranca told the reporters. "I hope that this kid will inspire millions of people," she said.

Where there is a will, there is always a way. If there is a chance in a million that you can do something, anything, to keep what you want from ending, do it. Pry the door open or, if need be, wedge your foot in that door and keep it open.

My last tie

My last tie was a post that went viral on the reddit forum a few weeks ago. It was written by a person who was diagnosed with terminal cancer, He decided to sum up all the things he thinks and wanted to say, So in his respect i am sharing what he wrote in the post.... To give a little exposure to such exquisite gems buried deep in the internet.

I am only 24 years old, yet I have actually already chosen my last tie. It’s the one that I will wear on my funeral a few months from now. It may not match my suit, but I think it’s perfect for the occasion.
The cancer diagnosis came too late to give me at least a tenuous hope for a long life, but I realized that the most important thing about death is to ensure that you leave this world a little better than it was before you existed with your contributions . The way I’ve lived my life so far, my existence or more precisely the loss of it, will not matter because I have lived without doing anything impactful.
Before, there were so many things that occupied my mind. When I learned how much time I had left, however, it became clear which things are really important. So, I am writing to you for a selfish reason. I want to give meaning to my life by sharing with you what I have realized:
  • Don’t waste your time on work that you don’t enjoy. It is obvious that you cannot succeed in something that you don’t like. Patience, passion, and dedication come easily only when you love what you do.
  • It’s stupid to be afraid of others’ opinions. Fear weakens and paralyzes you. If you let it, it can grow worse and worse every day until there is nothing left of you, but a shell of yourself. Listen to your inner voice and go with it. Some people may call you crazy, but some may even think you‘re a legend.
  • Take control of your life Take full responsibility for the things that happen to you. Limit bad habits and try to lead a healthier life. Find a sport that makes you happy. Most of all, don’t procrastinate. Let your life be shaped by decisions you made, not by the ones you didn’t.
  • Appreciate the people around you Your friends and relatives will always be an infinite source of strength and love. That is why you shouldn’t take them for granted.
  • It is difficult for me to fully express my feelings about the importance of these simple realizations, but I hope that you will listen to someone who has experienced how valuable time is.
I'm not upset because I understand that the last days of my life have become meaningful. I only regret that I will not be able to see a lot of cool stuff that should happen soon like the creation of AI, or Elon Musk’s next awesome project. I also hope that the war in Syria and Ukraine will end soon.
We care so much about the health and integrity of our body that until death, we don’t notice that the body is nothing more than a box - a parcel for delivering our personality, thoughts, beliefs and intentions to this world. If there is nothing in this box that can change the world, then it doesn’t matter if it disappears. I believe that we all have potential, but it also takes a lot of courage to realize it.
You can float through a life created by circumstances, missing day after day, hour after hour. Or, you can fight for what you believe in and write the great story of your life. I hope you will make the right choice.
Leave a mark in this world. Have a meaningful life, whatever definition it has for you. Go towards it. The place we are leaving is a beautiful playground, where everything is possible. Yet, we are not here forever. Our life is a short spark in this beautiful little planet that flies with incredible speed to the endless darkness of the unknown universe. So, enjoy your time here with passion. Make it interesting. Make it count!
Thank you!
Beautiful thoughts.

The piteous lone traveler

The piteous lone traveler

i went along the route traveled
by most, both young and old
with a cell phone costlier than gold
yet along the course what unraveled
was sadder than most, so was i told

what you may read might sound just comical
-at first, but trust me you would
roll in laughter, more than you should
So here's the story that's tragical
in more ways than one for the lad who was...well, misunderstood

i had a phone, smart it was to do
anything -except forcing someone to call
i sat inside the vehicle, share auto they call,
alas, it was worse than sitting in a loo
and yet i took with me the phone... and all

Diversity, i had read about in text
yet that day was the one i felt
i had seen an example and dealt,
Many were there that day all annexed
to the tiny vehicle, bulging through its belt

To my horror, i found
every single person on their phone
except a geriatric, whom i found all alone
Tamil , Hindi , English , Telugu and Malayalam all around
was all i could fathom from the sound.

Awkward was it for me to sit,
among this crowd of people attending calls
when i had to sit silently staring at the walls
Out of no where did i hear a voice, that hit
me hard, sure to bring out some soft LOL(s)

The geriatric who i mentioned earlier
was the source of this loud noise,
snorted did he from the crowd with a loud voice,
"cut the damn calls, the poor boy is feeling demure"
My god did he point the finger at me, oh boys!

Embarrassed was i with those words,
Only to be even more... later,
Snorted again did the old man, greater
"Son, isn't there anyone to call you ? ...poor nerds!!",
What ? why ? when ? how ? please stop this banter

So this was the story of the piteous lone traveler,
who endured this embarrassing situation,
ever after did he proceed with caution
who do you think was the poor traveler
he is none other than yours truly(exclamation)

Yes... yes.... now Rebecca black's Friday sounds better and an LKG kid would have written a better poem, but trust me.... if this had been in an article format you would have hated it more.

And for those who are wondering if this is a poem, Yes it is ! It follows the style a-b-b-a-b (alliteration if you fancy :p)

Literally !!

  • i am literally amused by the wrong usage of the word 'literally' in places where it literally has to be the word figuratively or metaphorically though recently, The definition of literally is no longer the literal definition of literally but rather has been assigned with the literal definition of 'figuratively' and 'metaphorically'
thereby making it formally non-literal, equivalent to its use colloquially

Unusual tutors and teachings

It was just another day for me, the usual morning routine... mundane stuff . As usual i was on my way to the bus stop (on the way to office of course) and as usual i saw a beggar on the road and AS USUAL, i gave him some money that i could afford to dispose (yes, yes i am charitable).Phew, too many usual(s)... okay enough, i am getting to the unusual part that compelled me to share what happened as a blog entry, As i was waiting for the bus to arrive i noticed the guy (the protagonist, i.e the beggar) enter a shop and get some vadas (A south Indian snack -<For those international fans of mine>) ... so far so good ...usual of course. He goes to a corner of the road, sits down on the pavement and starts tearing up his vada into smaller pieces... he then starts throwing these pieces on the road scattering it all around him . The judgmental side in me kicked in and i thought to myself that this was definitely a mad man who needed to be in a home for the mentally challenged. A couple of minutes later i realized how wrong and quick to judge i was . I saw a couple of crows(yeah 2 crows exactly!) and stray dogs that came to eat the food that the man had scattered, He also started petting those dogs so lovingly. This scene was something marvelous... amazing, An act so selfless that definitely deserved to be mentioned somewhere in this universe. This was truly inspiring for me. I am pretty sure that if i was in his position, having nothing ... literally nothing... I would have thought only about myself, saving as much as i can from the paltry change i get as alms but this man who had no certainty about his next meal, definitely looking hungry himself decided to spend all that he got on some creatures which can never repay him in any way for this act of selflessness (Actually these creatures are better than most humans i know). Seriously that's commendable ! I learned something that i will remember forever.

I realized that :

  • The lesser wealth one owns greater is the willingness to part with it !
  • I should never judge a book by its cover (beggar by his looks in this case)
  • God has a way of taking care of every creature that he has made (Replace God with Nature or Universe, he by it -- <if you are an atheist>)
  • Some beggars are better people than 89.732% of the famous personalities (in case you are wondering, Yea i calculated it right to the decimal point)
  • I should improve on my sarcasm and article writing in general. (Finally some modesty!)
