Unusual tutors and teachings

It was just another day for me, the usual morning routine... mundane stuff . As usual i was on my way to the bus stop (on the way to office of course) and as usual i saw a beggar on the road and AS USUAL, i gave him some money that i could afford to dispose (yes, yes i am charitable).Phew, too many usual(s)... okay enough, i am getting to the unusual part that compelled me to share what happened as a blog entry, As i was waiting for the bus to arrive i noticed the guy (the protagonist, i.e the beggar) enter a shop and get some vadas (A south Indian snack -<For those international fans of mine>) ... so far so good ...usual of course. He goes to a corner of the road, sits down on the pavement and starts tearing up his vada into smaller pieces... he then starts throwing these pieces on the road scattering it all around him . The judgmental side in me kicked in and i thought to myself that this was definitely a mad man who needed to be in a home for the mentally challenged. A couple of minutes later i realized how wrong and quick to judge i was . I saw a couple of crows(yeah 2 crows exactly!) and stray dogs that came to eat the food that the man had scattered, He also started petting those dogs so lovingly. This scene was something marvelous... amazing, An act so selfless that definitely deserved to be mentioned somewhere in this universe. This was truly inspiring for me. I am pretty sure that if i was in his position, having nothing ... literally nothing... I would have thought only about myself, saving as much as i can from the paltry change i get as alms but this man who had no certainty about his next meal, definitely looking hungry himself decided to spend all that he got on some creatures which can never repay him in any way for this act of selflessness (Actually these creatures are better than most humans i know). Seriously that's commendable ! I learned something that i will remember forever.

I realized that :

  • The lesser wealth one owns greater is the willingness to part with it !
  • I should never judge a book by its cover (beggar by his looks in this case)
  • God has a way of taking care of every creature that he has made (Replace God with Nature or Universe, he by it -- <if you are an atheist>)
  • Some beggars are better people than 89.732% of the famous personalities (in case you are wondering, Yea i calculated it right to the decimal point)
  • I should improve on my sarcasm and article writing in general. (Finally some modesty!)
